About
Sean Thegen joined the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in 2019 as an audiovisual specialist. He operates the audiovisual equipment in the Conference Center and NCBiotech facilities. Sean supports NCBiotech staff and clients with their presentations, panels, and livestreams to ensure that meetings run seamlessly. He is the point of contact for assessing the technical requirements for live programs and virtual events and planning accordingly.
Sean studied audio engineering at The New School in New York City and has 20+ years of professional experience in live sound and music production. Prior to joining NCBiotech, Sean managed site operations for the international music festival, Moogfest. He was systems engineer for the music production company North State Sound whose clients include Duke Performances, Haw River Ballroom, North Carolina Museum of Art and The Pinhook.
Over the course of his career, Sean has worked with international touring acts, Grammy-winning artists, local bands, best-selling authors, government officials, thought leaders, comedians and curious characters. Sean is passionate about composition, sound art and modular synthesis. He is an electronic musician, performing both solo and with a rotating cast of collaborators.
